WHEN ỌGBẸNI ARẸGBẸṢỌLA REFUSED TO BE A PAWN .....
No one, not here or anywhere else has been more loyal to Tinubu than Ogbeni Raufu Aregbesola. He was the one who stood on the streets for him in 1999, faced the Agberos, fought the establishment and brought the Awo slogan to the campaign.
He was the one who went to meet the bus that was bringing in the fake ballot papers in 2003, the ballot papers that were supposed to make Funsho Williams the Governor and Obj the Emperor of S west. This was after they got info from the Atiku camp [the fact that the Tinubu camp never appreciated this is a story for another day] He stood against guns, soldiers, cutlasses and principalities to make this happen. Aregbesola risked his life, limbs, religion and even Heaven for Tinubu countless times.
When Aregbesola became the Governor of Osun State, even after giving all the projects to Tinubu's Lagos boys, at the expense of Osun indigenous people, he would still be seen defending Tinubu and telling anyone that cares that Tinubu is his benefactor, his lord , savior and helper.
At a time , after becomingtheGovernor, he even said Tinubu was still putting money in his pocket. "Awon ni won ko owo si mi lapo." This line went viral in Osogbo around 2013/2014. It is even a standing joke in my house till today. My Dad, Otunba Adesegun Sode always remind me of this, even when he was on a sick bed.
Folarin, tani o n ko owo si e lapo ? [Folarin, who is putting money in your pocket]? I usually replied, Tinubu sir. My uncle, Victor Oluwadamilare Damvic, must have heard this countless times from us.
Aregbesola was called the killer of Isiaka Adeleke Serubawon because of Jaga****, he was called a slave because of Jagaban, he was called Ajele, a thief, a BABALAWO, and all other negative names because of his loyalty to Tinubu Now what did he gain from that, other than betrayal. Yes, a boss can also betray his staff. A General can betray his troops. This is exactly what has happened to Rauf Aregbesola. He has been betrayed.
He plunged Osun into debt because he had to fight Jonathan, a fight he didnt need to fight. He fought Jonathan for Ameachi, for Sanusi and for fuel subsidy all because Tinubu needed to build ACN and become President someday and running Gej out of Abuja is the fastest way to make that happen. It is on record that when Tinubu was charged to Court in Abuja over his official declaration, it was only Aregbesola that mobilised people from Osun to go and stand in front of the court for solidarity.
He lost his credibility, his good name and his Islamic respect for this one man.
Fought Saraki, fought Atiku, fought Ameachi [later], fought practically everybody because of Jaga.... . But what did he get for all this?
NOTHING
He fought Amosun for him
Fought Ambode for him
Fought Fasola, Banire, Afikuyomi, Momodu, Bucknor, Pedro, Ajimobi, Akeredolu, Fayemi etc for him. Where did this get him? No where.
He was even insulted and called a betrayer for becoming a minister in a govt he helped installed.
