Osun ADC New Media Accuses APC of Falsehoods: Basiru Targets Aregbesola to Safeguard His Political Interests.



The Osun ADC New Media through is Publicity Secretary, Akande Abimbola, strongly condemns the irresponsible and contradictory remarks made today by the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru. His latest outburst reinforces a long-standing reality: the APC is not only failing Nigerians but is also increasingly intolerant of criticism and willing to attack anyone who exposes its shortcomings. The party continues to operate as though it seeks to impose a one-party system where dissent is silenced and propaganda thrives.

Rather than addressing the pressing issues confronting Nigerians—rising insecurity, escalating unemployment, and an economy under severe strain—Basiru has chosen to divert attention by launching unwarranted attacks on Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The Osun ADC New Media views this as a calculated distraction aimed at shielding APC’s failures while protecting Basiru’s personal political interests.

The record is clear: Basiru withdrew from the Osun governorship race, revealing himself as a politician whose influence and capability have been overstated. His political trajectory was modest until Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola offered him support, mentorship, and opportunities that significantly shaped his career. Yet, this is the same Aregbesola and his supporters whom Basiru derisively labelled “Top Biscuits” during the 2022 elections—remarks that further contributed to APC’s electoral defeat in the state.

Abimbola cautions Senator Basiru against invoking Aregbesola’s name for personal relevance or political advantage. It is particularly disappointing that a National Secretary of the ruling party would resort to such rhetoric at a time when Nigerians are living under the weight of insecurity, economic hardship, and national uncertainty—conditions aggravated by APC’s governance failures.

Basiru’s conduct reflects a broader pattern within the APC: leaders who resort to attacks, distortions, and smear campaigns to obscure their inefficiencies. Nigerians are fully aware of the economic hardship, insecurity, and systemic decline the party has presided over, and no amount of political grandstanding can erase these realities.

The Osun ADC New Media calls on the APC to desist from manipulating the suffering of Nigerians for political gain. Criticism remains a democratic right, not a crime. The people of Osun, and Nigerians at large, must reject the APC’s arrogance, its propaganda, and its empty political theatrics.

Senator Basiru may attempt to inflate his political relevance through attacks and misinformation, but the facts remain unchanged: his influence is overstated, his actions are self-serving, and the APC is failing Nigerians.
