2027: Omoluabi Progressives Mobilise Across Lagos, Set Sights on ADC Victory
Stakeholders of the Lagos State chapter of the Omoluabi Progressives, a political tendency within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), have charged their members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The charge was given during the group’s weekly stakeholders’ meeting held on January 21 in Ogba, Lagos State, where leaders from various local government areas of the state were in attendance.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the group in Lagos State, Hon. Oyesola Okiki, urged leaders across the state to remain resolute and committed to the task of winning Lagos for the ADC. He stressed that sustained grassroots engagement remains the key to building a formidable political structure.
Also addressing members, the Lagos State Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Hon. Rilwan, called on leaders to spread the activities and ideology of the group across all wards in their respective local governments. He further encouraged them to harmonise and work closely with other political leaders at the local level to strengthen the party’s base.
From Alimosho, stakeholder leader Hon. Adeyinka Odukoya advised members to properly manage and monitor their local groups to ensure that only committed members benefit from the group’s activities, warning against non-members taking undue advantage of the organisation.
In his remarks, Hon. Wale Balogun, another leader within the stakeholders’ forum, cautioned members against complacency, noting that political change would not come without sacrifice. According to him, if the Omoluabi Progressives and ADC are serious about challenging the ruling APC in 2027, members must be prepared to work hard and defend their votes at the polls.
Similarly, Hon. Rasheed Alao, an aspirant from Agege Constituency, urged members to intensify Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration, describing it as a critical tool for electoral victory.
Adding to the discussions, Hon. Ibuowo, leader of the Oshodi–Isolo Omoluabi Progressives, disclosed that their current meeting venue can no longer accommodate members due to increasing participation resulting from aggressive mobilisation efforts. He encouraged leaders in other areas to adopt similar mobilisation strategies.
Contributions were also made by members from Ijora, Ifako-Ijaiye, Alimosho, Ojo, Kosofe, Apapa, Mushin, and Surulere, all of whom spoke on strategies to strengthen the group and expand its influence across the state.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by members to intensify mobilisation efforts and strengthen the ADC’s grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 elections.
