Alleged APC Thugs Attack ADC Members at Political Gathering in Egbeda

Members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were on Friday, January 31, 2027, reportedly attacked by suspected thugs linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a political gathering held at the Eko Event Centre, Egbeda, Lagos State.
According to eyewitnesses, the ADC members were holding a peaceful meeting when a group of unidentified individuals allegedly stormed the venue, disrupting proceedings and physically assaulting attendees. The sudden attack reportedly caused panic at the event, forcing several participants to flee for safety.
At least one ADC member was said to have sustained injuries during the incident, while a vehicle belonging to a party member was also reportedly damaged. Details of the injured victim’s condition remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Sources within the party alleged that the attackers were political thugs associated with the APC, accusing them of attempting to intimidate opposition members and disrupt lawful political activities. However, the APC has not officially responded to the allegation.
Security operatives were said to have intervened after the incident, restoring calm to the area, though no arrests had been confirmed at press time.
The ADC leadership condemned the attack, describing it as an assault on democracy and the constitutional right to peaceful assembly. The party called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Political observers warn that rising incidents of violence at political gatherings could heighten tension ahead of future elections, urging all parties to embrace peaceful engagement and respect democratic processes.
