The youth leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Lagos State executive, led by George Ashiru, reaffirming their support for the current leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached during a strategic virtual meeting held on March 19, 2026, via a WhatsApp platform. The meeting brought together key youth leaders of the party, including representatives from the South-West, South-South, South-East, as well as Ekiti State.
The session was led by the Lagos State Youth Leader, Comrade Oba, whose leadership was widely commended by participants. According to attendees, the meeting focused on reviewing the performance of the Lagos State executive and assessing the party’s readiness for future electoral contests.
In a communique issued at the end of the deliberations, the youth leaders expressed satisfaction with the performance and direction of the Lagos State leadership under Hon. Ashiru. They noted that the leadership has demonstrated commitment, organizational capacity, and strategic direction in positioning the party for growth and electoral success.
The youth leaders further passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the Lagos State executive, citing what they described as “visible progress and inclusive leadership” within the party structure.
Participants also applauded Comrade Oba for his dedication and effectiveness as Lagos State Youth Leader, noting that his efforts have strengthened youth engagement and mobilization within the party.
They expressed strong optimism that retaining the current state executive would enhance the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
According to them, continuity in leadership would provide the stability needed to effectively coordinate party aspirants and ensure victory across key elective positions, including the Senate, House of Representatives, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and the presidency.
“The current leadership has laid a solid foundation for the ADC in Lagos State. With sustained support and continuity, we are confident the party will record significant victories in 2027,” part of the communique read.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for unity among party members and a commitment by youth leaders across the regions to intensify grassroots mobilization and strengthen the party’s structures nationwide.
Political observers note that the endorsement by youth leaders could play a crucial role in consolidating internal cohesion within the ADC, especially as political activities gradually build up ahead of the next general election cycle.
