Grassroots Engagement Key Despite Impressive Online Registration ..... George Ashiru

The Lagos State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, George Ashiru, has called on party members and supporters to go beyond online registration and actively engage at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the ongoing membership drive, Ashiru acknowledged the significant progress recorded through the party’s digital registration platform across Lagos State, describing it as “impressive,” but stressed that more work remains to be done to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of upcoming political activities.

“Online registration is not enough,” he stated. “Members must identify with their respective wards and fully involve themselves in grassroots mobilisation. That is where the real political strength lies.”

Ashiru emphasized that effective ward-level participation is critical to building a formidable political base, noting that the party’s success will depend largely on the commitment of its members at the community level.

While commending party faithful for embracing the digital registration process, he urged them to complement it with physical presence and active participation in ward meetings and local engagements.

He reiterated that although Lagos State has recorded encouraging numbers in the registration exercise, greater effort is needed to ensure widespread inclusion and deeper grassroots penetration.

The ADC chairman concluded by encouraging members to obtain their membership cards and integrate fully into the party’s local structures, describing grassroots mobilisation as the backbone of sustainable political growth.
