Grassroots Leader Fatai Ibu-Owo Declares Ambition......Promises Transformational Representation for Oshodi Constituency I

A seasoned grassroots mobilizer and former Lagos State Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Comrade Chief Fatai Ibu-Owo, has formally positioned himself as a formidable aspirant for Oshodi Constituency I, anchoring his ambition on over two decades of community service, political experience, and sustained investment in human capital development.

Ibu-Owo, who holds the traditional title of Balogun of Jajoland, is widely known in Oshodi and its environs for his long-standing commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement.

Since 2002, he has sponsored several community-focused initiatives, including free computer training programmes, as well as preparatory classes and examination sponsorships for JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and GCE candidates;interventions that have reportedly benefited thousands of young people and families.

His grassroots impact has earned him multiple recognitions and awards, further solidifying his reputation as a community-driven leader with a passion for service.

Speaking on his political journey, Ibu-Owo highlighted his consistent participation in democratic processes dating back to 2003. Under the NCP, a party founded by the late human rights activist Chief Gani Fawehinmi, he contested for the councillorship position in Ward E2 of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government in both 2003 and 2007. Despite emerging victorious in both instances, he said he was denied the mandate.

Undeterred, he went on to contest for the chairmanship of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government in 2011 and 2014, and later for the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2019, demonstrating resilience and sustained political engagement.

Beyond electoral contests, Ibu-Owo has held several strategic leadership roles within the political space. He served as the South-West Secretary of the NCP and later rose to become the Lagos State Chairman until the party’s deregistration. He also played a key role in inter-party relations as a two-term Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Lagos State.

His experience further extends to campaign management, having served as Director-General of Comrade Ayodele Akele’s governorship campaign organisation in 2011 and 2015, as well as Campaign Director for NCP presidential candidate, Chief Martin Onovo, in 2015.

Outlining his vision, Ibu-Owo emphasized the need for purposeful and people-oriented leadership at the constituency level. According to him, his mission is to drive meaningful grassroots development, amplify the voices of underserved communities, and deliver effective legislative representation that translates into tangible benefits for residents of Oshodi Constituency I.

“Our belief is that real change begins at the constituency level. With the right leadership, we can set a new standard for governance that directly impacts the lives of our people,” he stated.

The aspirant also pointed to the strength of his campaign structure, noting that his team has already recruited and registered over 1,000 members across Oshodi, with an ambitious target of reaching 10,000 before the close of the party’s registration exercise. He described this as a reflection of growing grassroots support and a testament to the credibility of his movement.

If elected, Ibu-Owo pledged to prioritize youth employment, education, small and medium enterprise (SME) development, infrastructure advocacy, and sustained constituency engagement.
